Weight Watchers Meetings: Locations, Points System, Scale, Lifetime Membership And Weight Watchers Online

Losing weight is never easy. This fact can easily be proven by taking one glance at all of the dieting and exercising programs that exist in the United States. One such program is Weight Watchers, and much like every other company that markets a dieting plan, Weight Watchers claims to work. The Weight Watchers plan includes a points system, a magazine, Weight Watchers meetings, and an online network.

Weight Watchers consists of  a points system in which each food is given a certain number of points. The type of plan followed and factors such  as gender, age, weight, and height determine a dieter's particular amount of points per day.  The goal is to help dieters learn portion control as well as cut down on unnecessary food and snacks. In addition to the point system, there are four stages of exercise (start out, build up, ramp up and keep going) that the dieter can choose from and personalize.

Weight Watchers also offers recipes and ideas for healthy meals. Many of these recipes are found in the Weight Watchers magazine, another tool offered by the company to aid those wishing to drop pounds. The Weight Watchers magazine also features articles and news about weight loss and health.

One of the most important facets of the Weight Watchers plan is the Weight Watchers meetings. In fact, a 2006 study found that those who attended the highest percentage of Weight Watchers meetings, in addition to sticking to the complete plan, lost the most weight and saw the biggest improvements in health. They tended to lose about three times more weight than those who did not go to Weight Watchers meetings.

A dieter attends Weight Watchers meetings, which usually last less than an hour, once a week. Each session includes a hop onto the scale; weight is recorded and progress (or regression) can successfully be gaged by this confidential weekly weigh-in. At Weight Watchers meetings, the dieter can converse and exchange tips and recipes with fellow Weight Watchers as well as gain insight from an expert trained in the program. The team leader teaches the group how to make wise choices in eating habits and  enjoy exercising regularly. Since no contract exists, dieters can attend as many Weight Watchers meetings they wish – Weight Watchers meetings are pay as you go. To attend Weight Watchers meetings, all a dieter must do is find one of the many meeting locations around the country and stop on in.

A person wishing to shed a few pounds could also opt to become a Weight Watchers Online subscriber. This option is great for someone who lives farther away from any of the Weight Watchers meetings locations. As a subscriber, dieters have access to a number of online tools designed to help them lose weight, including a Points Tracker and a Core Food List. The dieter can easily track his or her progress using the online Weight Tracker, and can see when rewards are earned. Weight Watchers Online is interactive, offering tools to manage food intake and daily exercise. Also, Weight Watchers Online is personalized, since males and females lose weight at different rates and in different ways. Subscribers will also find a number of helpful healthy recipes and a restaurant guide which offers ideas on how to make smart food choices while dining out.

After keeping to the points system and attending the beneficial Weight Watchers meetings, a dieter may find stepping on a scale to be a much less traumatic experience. The combination of healthy eating, exercising, and coaching that Weight Watchers meetings and diet offers seems, to many people, to be the perfect way to lose weight.
